June 29th RA Orientation Meeting

(1) Introduction to 4Humanities "WhatEvery1Says" (WE1S) Project
- WE1S Overview:

- Document sources (plus possible later stage sources--e.g., academic vs. media publications) (Collection workflows and manual means for getting articles from other resources can also be developed by RAs)
- Stage 1: finding and scraping articles (example of raw plain text files mentioning the humanities in New York Times during 2007)
- Stage 2: cleaning, filtering (with stop lists), and other preprocessing of the plain text files.
- Stage 3: topic modeling of the text files.
