Purpose of today's meeting

  • Today we initiate a series of January-March WE1S "interpretation workshops" intended to work out the steps of our topic model interpretation protocol. This will prepare us for interpretation exercises in April-June addressing actual research questions.

 

0. Preliminary Business

 

  • UCSB required training modules for researchers
  • Upcoming all-hands meetings in winter quarter:
    • Thur. Feb. 7th. Options:
      • continue interpretation workshop
      • or:
        • 10-11: all-hands discussion with Interpretation Lab team members working on various aspects of visualization, mapping, and model optimization, plus word embedding (including Dan, Sihwa, Cindy, Su, Fabian)
        • 11-12: all-hands discussion with the primary corpus collection and diverse populations collection teams; plus discussion with the students & humanities team about human subjects research plans
    • Thur. Feb. 28th 
    • Thur. Mar. 14th
